I would say that this has been a long time coming, but realistically I waited longer for Laravel 5.0 than this release. To say the changes in 5.0 were tectonic would be an understatement. The comfort of having a line drawn in the proverbial sand for developers of enterprise products for long term support will only serve to make Laravel the most trusted PHP framework for at least the next few years.
Taylor Otwell’s opinionated defaults make development quite easy for those just getting their feet wet, but the power of configuration and extensibility beyond the initial install is what really makes Laravel an ideal tool for PHP developers.
The primary challenge for me will be adapting and adhering to PSR-2 standards. As a lone developer, it’s easy to get away with “good enough,” but some semblance of law and order is generally welcome in the open source community.
